How Hiring – Events Assistant

The Jensen Community Center in Amherst, Wisconsin is seeking an

Events Assistant. This is a part-time position of 8 to 12 hours per week during regular business hours, with additional evening and weekend hours as needed.

Job Duties Include:

  • Assisting with event planning and execution during the Center’s weekday business hours, in addition to attending and overseeing evening and weekend events (typically 1-2 per month) with other Jensen Center staff
  • Center support, including grant writing, fundraising, sponsorship acquisition, and recruiting and coordinating volunteers
  • Aiding in social media promotion of events and activities and distributing printed materials within the community
  • Helping create promotional items with such software as Canva, lnDesign, or Microsoft Publisher
  • Assisting with proofreading and preparing the monthly Community Spirit newspaper
  • Welcoming visitors to the Center and directing inquiries

Skill set requirements:

  • Resourceful, with exceptional organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Collaboration expert who enjoys working in a team environment Self -motivated, and flexible, as job duties may evolve based on the needs of programs, fundraising, and Center goals
  • Good computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office products and internet usage required. Experience with Adobe products would be a bonus
  • Marketing and event planning experience also preferred
