Amherst first grader flies high in ATV competitions

Skylar Marshall, the daughter of Aaron and Brianna Marshall and granddaughter of Dave and Shirley Allen all of Amherst, competed in her first national level motocross race at Three Palms Action Sport in Conroe, Texas, April 10 and 11.

Competing against riders from all over the United States, she was the only girl in her classes. In the 50 CVT Class, she ended up with ninth place out of 16 riders, while in the 50 Open Class she finished sixth out of 10 riders.

On May 7, Skylar raced at a local motocross track in Chilton, against kids 5-12 years old, and she received first place.

A week later, on May 15 and 16, she competed in Mount Morris, Pa., where she finished sixth out of 13 competitors in the 50 Open 6-8 class. Due to a mechanical issue that didn’t let her finish the race, she placed 13th out of 15 riders in the 50 CVT 6-8 class.
