By Chelsea Graham, River Run Coordinator
Hello River Run friends! We wanted to keep you in the loop regarding our planning for the 2021 River Run. Currently, many health guidelines are keeping group events to 50 people or less or a fraction of a building’s fire-code capacity.
We’re a unique run, in that we offer a post-race party at Central Waters Brewing Company. The brewery will see around 3,000 people on a typical River Run Saturday.
We also host the race in October, a perfect time to see the fall colors and get hit with unexpected inclement weather, making social distancing inside nearly impossible.
Staggering our race start times to accommodate more people safely is just not an option. Because of our location at the brewery and that this is paired with their Black Gold beer release, we can only utilize the village street to the brewery for a limited time.
What it boils down to is that we just don’t yet know what things are going to look like. That being said, we don’t want to begin accepting registrations May 1, only to have to refund lots of you. We will post further updates once we have more information. Hang in there and keep running!
The River Run is one of our most successful annual fundraisers held locally at Central Waters Brewery, usually on the second Saturday in October. We welcome 1,500 runners and walkers to join in a 5 Mile or 2 Mile Race to help raise funds for our community center. Registration entitles participants on race day to a t-shirt, a can of River Run beer, and the option to purchase a bottle of the limited and highly sought-after Central Waters Black Gold. There is also a Falcon Fun Run held in conjunction for youngsters. Registration opens here on May 1 every year so check back for details and to register then. Thank you for your support!
