Docka hits the trail again

Jaimie Docka

After completing his hike of the Pacific Coast Trail in 2021, hiker and former Amherst resident Jamie Docka has embarked on his next challenge, hiking the Continental Divide Trail, a distance of approximately 3,100 miles.

Starting at the United States/Mexico border in New Mexico, Docka started his travels in April 21 and will follow the Rocky Mountains through New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho, and Montana. He anticipated reaching the Canadian border by the end of October.

Docka’s mother, Danita, said, “This will be his biggest challenge yet as there are limited resupply stops, greater distance between water sources, and a wider variety of weather patterns. Jamie anticipates connecting with past trail hiker friends and hopes to meet many more along the way!”

The Community Spirit will follow his progress over the course of his hike. You can follow his progress at: bit.ly/3vJuThd.
