Three students from the Amherst High School were recently awarded for their scholarship on topics of state and local interest by the Tomorrow River Valley Historical Society.
The students from Brian Dummer’s Local History class presented their research before a panel of three Tomorrow River Valley Historical Society (TRVHS) judges.
A tie was determined by the judges for first place between William Alexander and Ayden Kazda who presented pieces about “Logging in Wisconsin” and “The Railroads of Amherst,” respectively. Each student earned $100.
Runner-up Ada Stevens presented on “How Title IX Affected Women at Amherst” and received $50.
Honorable mentions included: Lelu Tobler, who presented on “The Taliesin Massacre,” and Evan Voss, who presented on “Amherst Student Life Through the Decades.”
The funds for the awards were made possible by an anonymous community donation to the TRVHS aimed at educating youth on local history. The TRVHS would like to thank all students who participated.
Left to right: Senior Evan Voss, Junior Lelu Tobler, Senior Ada Stevens, Junior William Alexander, Junior Ayden Kazda, and Local History teacher Brian Dummer.
