The Tomorrow River School’s Local History Class and the Tomorrow River Valley Historical Society (TRVHS) shared an educational day together in Madison on October 5. The morning State Capitol tour was followed by lunch on the Capitol lawn while enjoying the 60-degree weather. The afternoon provided tours of the Wisconsin Veterans Museum and the Wisconsin Historical Museum. Students and TRVHS members enjoyed 360-degree views of the city of Madison from the Capitol Observation Deck. The group marveled at the beauty of the Capitol’s many murals including the State Assembly chamber featuring a ghostly silhouette of a once-painted-over Civil War soldier. TRVHS members were impressed with all tours, and they were especially happy and proud to spend the day with the school’s outstanding students. A very memorable day was had by all.
The historical society provided the funds for the transportation to Madison on a Lamers’ coach, which was made possible due to generous contributions from our community for the TRVHS’ Silent Auction. We extend a special thank you to all the many local merchants and TRVHS members who donated money, baskets, and gift certificates, as well as all the people who had the winning bids.
