The Amherst Opera House Guild successfully finished its joint fundraiser with the International Bank of Amherst on December 31, reaching 100% of their $25,000 goal, which the bank then matched for a total of $50,000.Q
The Guild told the Spirit that they wanted to thank the many donors who helped achieve the goal.
Plans for the money and for future donations include such improvements as replacement of the Opera House’s front, side, basement, and stage doors and installation of smart locks on those doors, roof painting, rain gutters, front step replacement, an ADA-compliant wheelchair ramp, window repairs, a heating system, refinishing the main floor, and adding electrical outlets.
At its next meeting February 8, the Amherst Opera House Board plans to start prioritizing and planning those improvements. All area residents are invited to attend.
Ideas for restoration or events are also invited and can be emailed to info@amherstoperahouse.com.
