Docka hikes Pacific Crest Trail

Jamie Docka, a 2014 Amherst high school graduate and 2019 graduate from Michigan Technological University, began his more than 2,600-mile journey hiking the Pacific Crest Trail May 17.

He completed the more than 2,100-mile Appalachian Trail in 2019, hiking from Georgia to Maine.

He hopes to complete the Continental Divide Trail in the future, making the triple crown of hiking the U.S. trails.

Jamie has been joined along the way by friends from the Amherst community, including George Kraft on the Appalachian Trail and, most recently, crossing paths with Tim Olson, running the Pacific Crest Trail hoping to complete it in the fastest known time.

Jamie is an Eagle Scout and a hunter, including hunting expeditions with his uncles in Montana. He is a fisherman and an avid snowboarder.

Follow him on Facebook and Instagram for more pictures of his adventures.
