Jensen Center Board member Vickie Vaughn retires

At its September 20 meeting, the Amherst Area Foundation, the governing board of the Jensen Community Center, accepted with regret the retirement of long-time Board member Vickie Vaughn, who had served on the Board since April 2009.

Vaughn told the Spirit, “The gift and creation of the Jensen Center have been a force of service to our remarkable community for decades. I can hardly remember when it wasn’t around. The dozen years I served as a board member opened my eyes to how connected the Center is to the work and play in our area. It has been, as they say, an honor and a pleasure. I highly recommend it. The Board comprises a diverse, energetic, visionary, and most of all, fun group of individuals. It’s a great way to pay it forward. Give it some thought!”

Amherst Area Foundation Board President Sandra Lynne Schmutzler said, “Vickie has been an inspiration to many on how to be actively involved in the community while working behind the scenes. She is always ready to lend a helping hand and adds that bit of pizzazz to many of our activities.”

The Amherst Area Foundation is looking for energetic, involved, community members to join its Board or volunteer with activities or events. The Center’s mission is to provide all area age groups and demographics a diverse variety of activities and events.

If you’re interested in joining the Board, please contact Schmutzler at (715) 409-9931 or email sls8256@gmail.com. You may also contact any of the other Board members listed on page 7 of this issue.
