Hello! My name is Lizzie Gburek, and I was fortunate enough to be hired as the new library director here at the Lettie W. Jensen Library!

I grew up just outside of Amherst and went to school here as well. When I was growing up, I came into the library a lot and even volunteered here, so I’m more than happy to come back home to one of my favorite places with the best community!

I graduated from UW-Stevens Point with my bachelor’s degree, and am currently pursuing my master’s degree in Library and Information Studies from UW-Madison through their distance-delivered program, where I have just wrapped up my second semester.

I’m very excited to start working at such an exciting time with the summer reading program just around the corner.

Speaking of the summer reading program, it starts pretty soon! The reading program will run from June 8 to July 27, and the theme this year is Oceans of Possibilities! We’ll have a lot of fun this year, and I’m looking forward to meeting everyone, so please come down to the library and say hi!

Lego Night resumes June 6 at 6 p.m.; please bring in your children and their creativity.

Book Club will meet June 15 and discuss The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake by Aimee Bender. Extra copies are available at the library for those who may be interested in joining in on this book.

Summer hours will begin June 1 and run to September 4. Those hours will be Monday: 9 a.m. to Noon and 1 to 5 p.m.; Tuesdays and Thursdays: 1 to 5 p.m.; Wednesday: 1 to 8 p.m.; and Saturday: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
